Nandina Domestica - ‘Obsessed’

Nandina domestica's are also referred to as 'Sacred Bamboo' or 'Heavenly Bamboo', is not a bamboo, but a relative of Berberis.  But due to its bamboo like foliage and growth of upright stems from the roots its known as this. Gulf Stream is a particularly good compact shrub for year round foliage. This variety has multiple leaf colours on a fairly dense plant.

Grown primarily for its foliage, which emerges fiery red before turning fresh green, and then red again as autumn takes hold. In summer, pretty clusters of white flowers add to its appeal.

With its long season of interest and compact habit, Nandina domestica ‘Obsessed’ is perfect for a sunny spot in a small garden, and can also be grown in containers and for best results grow in moist but well-drained soil in partial shade, in a sheltered spot away from strong winds. In colder regions it may need protecting from frost.
